This four session instructor-led virtual workshop is for construction owners, managers, estimators, supervisors, and staff. Participants will learn how to improve the management and business systems of their construction company.

Course Content:

• Understand the strategic planning process and how to implement it within their context
• Understand the importance of a business plan and how to prepare one
• Understand the participants within the construction industry - their roles, responsibilities, and limitations
• Understand the benefits of a participatory management culture
• Formulate a marketing plan and understand the marketing mix
• Develop a human resource management plan
• Understand the employment cycle/process
• Develop an employee performance evaluation system
• Increase staff morale and engagement
• Understand operational planning for construction companies
• Formulate a financial plan, budget, ratios, and break-even anaylsis
• Understand the importance of financial internal controls
• Develop benchmarks and key performance indicators
• Understand bonding and insurance for construction companies
• Use risk management tools to identify risk and how to mitigate risk

Sharing a single registration between two or more individuals is not permitted. Please register each person that will be in attendance.

Please note the following:  

1. You will receive an email with easy to follow instructions on how to join the virtual classroom 48 hours prior to the course date.
2.  Your course manual and handouts will also be emailed to you in a PDF format.  It is recommended that you print the handouts as these will be the exercises to be completed in class. You may also want to print the manual to follow along if you do not have a second screen.
3. All students are encouraged to use the chat function to ask questions, as well as speaker and microphone during open session discussions.
