This skill development course provides an advanced comprehensive overview of the issues project managers face day to day and builds on the PM skills development training theory and fundamentals learned in PM 100.

Executing project management in the real world requires practical skills to tackle many issues: changing client requirements, multiple scope change requests, limited resources, lack of authority, and difficult clients.  

Course Content:

  • Properly manage project initiation
  • Formulate and execute the project plan
  • Create strategies to manage risk
  • Measure performance & maintain control
  • Create strategies to manage client expectations and achieve client satisfaction
  • Establish methodologies for integrating project management into your daily work

Course Instructor Information

Ms. Alanna Wright, PMP

Alanna is a professionally certified Project Management Professional (PMP). Her experience includes working within the Oil, Gas and Power Generation industries for over 10 years.  Alanna began her career as an Engineering Designer and worked her way up through the ranks, attending the University of Alberta for a diploma in Project Management.  Alanna worked for BNG Engineering (now Tetra Tech) for 5 years in Alberta working up in the Oilsands on projects ranging from $2M to $145M.  Her projects included engineering design, construction assistance, as well as fabrication and supply.  She then moved to the Lower Mainland and worked for Solaris Management Consultants for 5 years, managing engineering and procurement projects for Encana/Enbridge and Spectra Energy in the Natural Gas and Liquids sectors. Alanna now works at BC Hydro and is successfully managing major projects (up to $50M), including some of the more challenging projects in their larger generating facilities (ie. 1050 ton crane installation over generating units and modernization of the entire generation station controls systems) while adhering to BC Hydro's award winning Project Management policies.
