This two-part online course - developed by the certified instructors at UChapter2 - is ideal for entry-level architectural or engineering designers, apprentices, tradespersons, project coordinators, estimators, specialty sales reps, or anyone in career transition looking for a practical refresher.  

Whether you’re on the jobsite or in the office, it’s a solid first step toward better project collaboration.

Designed to quickly build confidence, this course covers the fundamentals of how to read and understand construction documents. From identifying title block information to reviewing floor plans, elevations, and combing through specification sections, participants will learn how to navigate a full set of drawings and interpret material and construction requirements with clarity.

We will use Bluebeam software in the course delivery, but this is not Bluebeam functionality training.

Audience:

Entry-level architectural or engineering designers, apprentices, entry-level tradespersons, project coordinators, assistant project managers, new project managers, estimators, specialty sales representatives, or anyone in career transition looking for a refresher.

Technology & Participation:

Please ensure you meet the following requirements:

  • Attendance via tablet or phone is not recommended.
  • You should have a mouse with a scroll wheel when attending this class.
  • 2-screen computer set-up is recommended. This will allow you to watch the instructor on one screen while practicing on the other.

Course Format:

  • Live, Online, Instructor-led training delivered over two 3 hour sessions.
  • ZOOM invite link and course materials will be provided to you prior to the start of the course

Course Dates:

  1. April 15, 2026 - 11:00 AM - 2:00 PM 
  2. April 16, 2026 - 11:00 AM - 2:00 PM

Attendance in both sessions is mandatory for course completion.

Course Instructor Information

Instructor:  Troy DeGroot,  UChapter2 | Owner

As a Bluebeam Certified Consultant, Bluebeam Certified Instructor, and Implementation Specialist, Troy travels the country training over 2,000 students annually with customized tools and workflows. It is these extensive and diverse training opportunities that have led to Troy being a requested annual presenter at AIA meetings, Bluebeam Academy and Bluebeam’s very own eXtreme Conference (XCON).

With over 20 years in the industry, Troy has cultivated a deep understanding of the requirements of customers, the needs of end users, common goals of management, and the capacities of the technology. He has led many companies through successful software implementations and training. Having served as the BIM Manager for a large multi-discipline engineering firm, he provides a broad understanding of the industry and the evolution of technology.
