This one day Civil Blueprint Reading course will provide participants with an introduction to reading construction blueprints, drawing specifications and general notes. Participants will gain experience and practical knowledge for their day-to-day work on construction projects.
Course Content:
- Basic knowledge of civil blueprint reading
- Become familiar with the design process and the role of design professionals
- Understand how building codes and bylaws impact blueprints
- Understand specifications and contractual hierarchy
- Find and interpret trade information within blueprints
- Answer basic questions related to layout and installation of materials
- Identify basic problems with in the blueprints
- Become familiar with civil, architectural and structural drawings and how they fit together
- Use architectural & metric scale rules
- Covert metric dimensions to architectural (imperial) dimensions
- Become familiar with floor plans, sections, details, profiles and elevation
- Understand symbols, notations, abbreviations and material schedules
- Using blueprints, obtain dimensions, finishes, details, and area calculations
- Complete material takeoffs
