Please join us for an important Members Only Town Hall meeting to discuss industry’s response to the new Community Benefits Agreement (CBA).
We've invited Ministers Harry Bains (Labour) and Claire Trevena (Transportation) to join us, giving them an opportunity to engage with industry and present their perspectives on this significant and controversial new policy. Our local MLA's Norm Letnick (Kelowna - Lake Country), Steve Thomson (Kelowna Mission), and Ben Stewart (Kelowna West) have confirmed their attendance.
This might be the most important industry topic you will discuss this year:
1) This CBA forces construction workers to join and pay dues to the Building Trades as a condition of working on public construction projects, which we believe is an infringement of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms
2) This CBA disregards government’s obligation for fair, open, and transparent construction procurement processes by awarding contracts based on labour affiliation

As a respected and influential member of the SICA, your presence and participation are highly valued. Note that the Town Hall will include employers from a cross-section of labour affiliations to ensure that all voices are heard.
