Effective September 9, 2019 the CSTS-09 online course will no longer be available through the BC Construction Safety Alliance (BCCSA).
Basic safety training for construction workers is a regulatory requirement in British Columbia and our industry has relied heavily on CSTS to deliver straightforward and effective basic safety training. Accordingly, the BCCSA has decided to replace the CSTS-09 with their own online version and are confident that their made-in-BC replacement will continue to meet this goal.
The CSTS-09 is owned by the Alberta Construction Safety Association (ACSA) and is available until December 31, 2019. The new version of Construction Safety Training System CSTS 2020 is also available. To assist in the transition the ACSA is offering the CSTS-09 at no cost when you register on their website directly.
If you wish to continue ordering through SICA the cost will be $20. This admin fee will cover CSTS-09 online registration and any technical support.
CSTS-09 is an online worker-specific safety program acknowledged industry wide, as an excellent learning tool for individuals who are either new to the construction industry or have not had formal safety training. The training is divided into separate modules that can be completed at your own pace, and the full program takes on average five to six hours to complete. This course gives a basic overview of various health and safety topics, and students are tested for 100% mastery of content. This program has become a pre-entry requirement for many construction industry work sites.
A current CSTS-09 certificate will remain valid and continue to be recognized across Canada.
