Thank you to our sponsors of SICA Golf June 3rd

We could not have done it without you.

SICA would like to give a big shout-out to all our valued sponsors, because of you this event was a great success. Although we experienced rain...a lot of rain, everyone managed to keep their spirits high and smiles on their faces! You may have noticed all the sponsors starting right from registration with Corwest in "The Front of the house" and if you did not here is a little recap. Nucor Harris Rebar were our golf cart sponsors and well let's just say it made life getting around the course a lot easier that day. It may have seemed a little like 4-wheeling or at least that is how I felt. We had several compliments on the cooler lunch bags sponsored by Victaulic that greeted everyone as they got into their golf carts, yum. If you were still hungry for a little something, TKI allowed us to grab a bite at the snack shack.

How about that Chandos' Grand prize, when the weather gets better it is going to be some nice perks and an amazing feature to the winner’s patio party? Horizon Landscaping provided some challenging fun with the longest drive Marshmellow contest, the question is whether it took skill or sheer luck. Their gift basket prize draw was a nice addition that we appreciated being able to offer to our attendees. Wilson Beck and their gourmet smokies plus hot cider were a real treat on a dreary day. Secure Rite threw it down with a fun frisbee toss and if you got it in the basket Lucas was giving away free swag. Did you take the "Builders Code Pledge" when you stopped by the SICA tent hosted by Tailgate Toolkit and Builders Code? If so, they have photos for you to check out on their social media. This event could not have taken place without all of these great companies including Emry Form, Stretch Construction, Wildstone Construction, Team Construction Management, and Traine Construction for sponsoring holes.

Capri CMW Insurance was doing a "putting contest" for cool swag, so we hope you got in some much-needed practice there and got to meet the awesome people at that hole. Sunbelt Rentals gave away a drill for all those "handy" people. There might have been a few construction people in attendance that were after that prize. Next time, I might ask for a lift on their lift, seeing construction equipment on the course was cool. Margarita Ville...Ummm I mean K2 Stone rocked it with their stone samples and seemed the place to be to escape the rain. Cancadd was on seen to shelter people from the storm and had some fabulous prizes, especially a beautiful work of art created by one of the Okanagan Valley's artists. BC Concrete's door prize of not one but two full sets of golf clubs with bags was "over the top" and I have to say left our team a little envious of the winner. How about that dinner? We all probably agree that Maple Reinders’s "Raise the Roof" sponsorship helped fill all our tummies with something yummy!

The Okanagan Golf Club was very accommodating, as always. We also want to say how much we appreciated James keeping everything on track and now we see how running smoothly keeps him in shape. Stay tuned for more events and we look forward to working with Jim Pattison Lease to bring more exposure to SICA and the construction industry.

I write to you heavy with emotions regarding the recent discovery at the Kamloops residential school. This is a long-awaited confirmation of the cultural annihilation forced upon our indigenous communities. SICA training courses prove practical and meaningful to students

It’s no exaggeration to say the global economy has been paralyzed by the pandemic. Fortunately for many Canadians, the construction industry was one of the few beacons in an otherwise slow economy greatly inhibited by COVID-19. Of course, the many forms of construction activity couldn’t forge ahead frivolously – social distancing, rigorous cleaning protocols and an abundance of caution were the norm on work sites everywhere, and it’s clear these methods will continue in the months ahead.
