Building Forward: Virtual Conference 2021
On March 5, 2021 SICA hosted our first ever virtual conference: Building Forward. We would like to thank all of the attendees who joined us live!
Part of our mission here at SICA is to connect owners, contractors, and consultants through facilitating an open communication between representatives of each. Through collaborative discussion we can learn from one another's experiences and strive to make improvements within our industry for all players.
While SICA was disappointed that we couldn’t host an in person CCO event this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we were glad virtual can event provide our members with some valuable information to help adjust to the rapidly changing world of today. As well as an opportunity to network with industry peers, even if it has to be done virtually.
The morning started with a panel discussion moderated by Katy Fairley of Fairley Strategies. The panel participants included Jason Paige of Acres Enterprises, Lucas Miller of Interior Health, and Andrew Stringer of Falcon Engineering.
Following the panel discussion participants were able to select a breakout session from the following topics:
- E-Bonds & Surety Bonds with CapriCMW Insurance
- WorkSafeBC's Approach to COVID-19
- Builders Lien Act with Pihl Law Corp.
Finally, the conference closed with a 2021 Legal Updated provided by David Volk from Jenkins Marzban Logan LLP.
SICA would like to extend a huge Thank you to our main event sponsor Capri CMW Insurance, our VIP Sponsor Jim Pattison Lease, and our silver sponsors CanCadd and Media Edge Publishing.
