2018 Kamloops Trap & Skeet
Every year the Kamloops Trap & Skeet is one of the most anticipated events we host! This year's event was no different. With over 100 attendees, BBQ steaks, and some tough competition it is safe to say that a blast was had by all.
June 27th was a beautiful day, the sun was shining, but it wasn't so bright that you couldn't see the skeets. When you arrive at the Trap & Skeet club, you are greeted with a gorgeous view overlooking the valley and depending on how early or late you arrive, you will probably hear the shotguns in the background.
Each attendee joins with a group of 4 other shooters and, at the steps overlooking the shooting grounds, anxiously waits for their turn. Since there is no drinking before shooting, there is a rush of people waiting to get out onto the range. First timers are often found asking those around them what to expect, which gun to choose, and where to aim. Luckily, the volunteers at the Trap & Skeet club give each attendee ample instruction and tips when it is their turn to shoot.
A round consists of 6 single shots and 2 double shots, for a total of 10 shots. A designated scorekeeper for each group keeps track of the shots, marking an X for each successful shot. After each person in your group has had a chance to shoot, you head back to the clubhouse for a few drinks and to BBQ your steak on the charcoal or gas grills.
Attendees grill up their own steaks on the BBQ and then fill their plate with potatoes and salads prepared by the SICA team. If you managed to save room there is a variety of desserts to choose from including; apple pie, carrot cake, cookies and more.
The Trap & Skeet takes place every June, we hope you will be able to join us in 2019!
