Harris Rebar
Tom is the Branch Manager of Harris Rebar in Kelowna. He got his start in construction following in his father’s footsteps; after completing high school, Tom started with Harris Rebar. During the past 18+ years of service, he has taken additional construction specific courses to better educate himself.
John Powers
Flynn Canada Ltd.
John is the Operations Manager at Flynn Canada Ltd. in Kelowna. He has been working in the roofing industry since 1986. He attended many courses in the building science program at BCIT, has his TQ, RRO, and is Gold Seal Certified. John joined the SICA board for networking.
Walter Dool
Greyback Construction Ltd.
Walter is a Civil Engineering Technologist, BCIT 1979, and a long time member of ASTTBC, and Gold Seal. He worked his first 7 years of construction as an inspector for bridge construction projects throughout BC, and as a civil works inspector for consulting firms. Walter is a long time employee of Greyback Construction, and has served on the Board in past years. The significant changes in the construction industry have re-ignited Walter's interest in serving SICA as a board member.
Brandon Panopoulos
TKI Construction Ltd.
After earning a Diploma of Technology for Building Engineering from BCIT in 2002 Brandon joined PCL Constructors Westcoast Inc.; where he worked as a Project Manager/Estimator until 2010. During this time Brandon received Gold Seal certification as a General Contracting Project Manager in 2007. In 2010 Brandon became a partner in TKI Construction Ltd. In 2017 Brandon became the sole owner of TKI. During his time in the construction industry Brandon has worked on a variety of projects including tenant improvements, fit-ups, new builds, structural upgrades and renovations. 
Phil Long, Past Chair 
Phil Long Construction Services
Phil is the principal in his own consulting firm providing professional service to Owners, Architects and Contractors in cost consulting, construction management and claims assistance. He holds a diploma in Civil Engineering Technology, is a Certified Technologist in BC and Ontario, Professional Quantity Surveyor, and is Gold Seal Certified in both Estimating and Project Management. Phil began his career in construction after one year of drafting directly out of college, then started estimating, which led to Project Management and Company Management.


Andrew Stringer
Falcon Engineering
Andrew is a mechanical engineer and principal at Falcon Engineering, with 15 years of experience in consulting. His areas of practice range from institutional and civic buildings, through single family and multifamily residential. In addition to this, his industrial experience includes agriculture and agri-food processing, as well as pharmaceutical and clean manufacturing facilities. Andrew's work in planning, tendering, and completing major mechanical capital projects gives me a balanced and relatively unique perspective on the business, legal and technical aspects of our local construction industry.
Cameron Betts
Betts Electric Ltd.
Cameron is the President of Betts Electric. He is a graduate of the University of Victoria and Red Seal Electrician. Cameron has been around the construction industry for most of his life and in his current management role at Betts Electric since 2013. He joined the board to stay in touch with the industry and help the association grow and adapt to the new generation.
Craig Main
Maddocks Construction Ltd.
Craig is the President of Maddocks Construction Ltd. He has his Benchwork and Joinery Apprenticeship and TQ from BCIT, his Carpentry Apprenticeship and TQ from Okanagan College, claimed first place in the 1992 International Carpentry Apprenticeship Challenge. Craig’s father and grandfather were carpenters, and he served his carpentry apprenticeship with Maddocks. then decided to start purchase the company and the rest is history.

David is a Chartered Professional Accountant and a large part of his practice is focused on the real estate and construction industry. 
Debra Dotschkat
Glass Canada Inc.
Debra is the General Manager of Glass Canada Inc. She attended Okanagan College and the University of Saskatchewan for business and accounting. She got started in construction at the young age of 15, and has worked in underground irrigation, plumbing, heating, air conditioning, wholesale lumber, geothermal, electrical, and glazing. She has had the pleasure of doing sales, customer service, accounting, safety officer, project management, and now Owner. She has done it all and loves to see something grow from the ground up.

When we started in business in 2008 our first move was to become a member of SICA as they were the go to place for all things in Commercial Construction. After a year of being a member I decided to get involved at the Board level and the benefits from this have been amazing. SICA not only gets involved in local issues but I also got the opportunity to work from the Provincial Level and become informed of issues at the National Level.
Gary Desert

Gary completed a Rolls Royce Aero Div. apprenticeship, before joining, then running the family construction business for more than 30 years in the U.K. being `hands-on` in all aspects of residential construction/renovations. Relocated the family to Kelowna, worked as a Stone Mason prior to joining a local company as an Estimator, moved companies to be a Manager/Estimator for all exterior finishes, then joined Ledcor as Special Projects Manager, which `morphed` into my current role as an Estimator, incl. running Special Projects, as a Project Manager, Estimator & Site Superintendent/Advisor as required.

Gordon is the owner/founder of Venture Mechanical Systems Ltd. which was established in 1994 and has grown to include a service company, VMS Comfort Plus, and a steel fabrication division, sheet metal division as well as a Fire Suppression division. Gord believes that emphasis on cooperation and safety in the workplace are 2 of the most important factors that contribute to procurement of projects and the successful completion of these projects.

A recent addition to Houle, as Regional Manager for the Interior, Okanagan, and BC North. Moved up from the Lower Mainland last July, and interested in forming community and industry relations. Previous to Houle, was the Pricing Manager for Gescan. Spent several years as Regional Sales Manager outside of the construction industry. Prior to that, was in Ontario working for the high tech industry, with various responsibilities for Anixter, 3Com, and Ericsson.

Maryssa Dandurand

Maryssa started out in environmental sciences, monitoring construction projects and doing local developments. She then moved in to working in an excavation company, starting out with the bookkeeping, which quickly progressed in to managing the company as an Operations Manager. Her main activities include managing and overseeing all financial operations and decisions, HR and Safety, and the overall day to day operations of the company.

Morly Bishop
CapriCMW Insurance Services Ltd.
Prior to entering the insurance industry, Morly obtained a Bachelors of Science in Chemical Biology from Thompson Rivers University in 2009. It was at this time Morly started a summer job for a construction firm in Kamloops; the plan was to get back to education after a year off from school. Seven years later, Morly was still working in construction and had swiftly moved through the ranks from a general laborer, to project managing and estimating some of the most complicated slope stabilization projects that have ever taken place in the interior of BC.

Morly has taken this experience from the construction industry into his career as a commercial risk advisor. His understanding of standard and complex construction techniques is key when placing effective insurance solutions for his clients.
Nathan MacDermott
Nathan has been involved in the construction industry since 2003 when he started a flooring installation company in Victoria. In 2006 Nathan moved his business to the Okanagan. In 2008 he expanded his business to provide further construction services and eventually began working as a general contractor. After building a number of homes Nathan decided to take on a new challenge and returned to university to study law. In 2017 he worked as an articling student with Pihl Law Corporation, and during that time he worked on a number of construction matters. Upon being called to the Bar in 2018 and returning to Pihl as an associate he has continued working on numerous construction-related matters.
