Debra Dotschkat, Chair Glass Canada Inc.
Debra is the General Manager and one of three Owners of Glass Canada Inc. in Kelowna. Debra attended Okanagan College and the University of Saskatchewan for business and accounting. She got started in construction at the young age of 16, and has worked in underground irrigation, plumbing, heating, air conditioning, wholesale lumber, geothermal, electrical, and glazing – wow! She has had the pleasure of doing sales, customer service, accounting, safety officer, project management, and now Owner. She has done it all and loves to see something grow from the ground up.
Jason Henderson, Vice Chair Houle Electric Limited - Kelowna
Jason is a Project Manager and Estimator for Houle Electric Ltd. in Kelowna. Jason took all four years of his Electrical Trades Apprenticeship at the University College of the Cariboo in Kamloops (now TRU). He started in the electrical trade in 1995 with 1 & 2 Electric Ltd. in Vernon; prior to that, Jason’s background was mainly in computers and data cabling.
Adam Zmudczynski, Sec/Treasurer Kal Tire
Adam is the Manager of Construction Services for Kal Tire’s Real Estate & Construction Department in Vernon. Adam graduated from the Architectural Technology & Construction Management Program at Mohawk College in Hamilton, ON, has his AScT. designation through Applied Science Technologists of BC, and has received his Owner’s Construction Manager Gold Seal Certification. He got his start in construction as a labourer with a framing crew in Ontario, and then went on to College.
Craig Main, Past Chair Maddocks Construction Ltd.
Craig is the President of Maddocks Construction Ltd. He has his Benchwork and Joinery Apprenticeship and TQ from BCIT, his Carpentry Apprenticeship and TQ from Okanagan College, claimed first place in the 1992 International Carpentry Apprenticeship Challenge. Craig’s father and grandfather were carpenters, and he served his carpentry apprenticeship with Maddocks. Thirteen years ago, Craig decided to start purchasing the company and the rest is history.

As a lawyer who practices construction law with Forward Law LLP, David is proud to represent a number of general contractors and subcontractors on everything from developing contracts, to helping with builders liens, to fighting tendering disputes in court.
Angela McKerlich Capri Insurance Services Ltd.
Angela is the Surety Manager and Partner at Capri Insurance Services Ltd. Angela got her start in the Insurance Business when she was 14 - she started cleaning her dad's office, then graduated to auto, personal lines, commercial lines, management, and bonding. She enjoys the construction industry for the thrill of the short deadlines, super people and companies to work with - there is always something new each day.
Gavin Rasmussen K & C's Construction & Renovations Ltd.
Gavin is the owner and President of K & C’s Construction & Renovation Ltd. This is Gavin’s fifth year on our Board. He is a Journeyman Carpenter, a Professional Gold Seal and a a Gold Seal Superintendent, and has various Technician certifications for the many courses he has taken over the years. Gavin got his start in construction at the tender age of 15 framing houses, and started his own company when he was 19.
Jeff Shecter Zap Welding
Jeff is the owner of Zap Welding. Jeff graduated from the welding program at Okanagan College in Kelowna; he got his start in the construction business first in sawmill construction throughout Northern Alberta and BC, and then moved into building trades construction. In 1986, he went into business for himself to enable him to spend more time with his young family.
Martin de Heer Interior Health Authority (IHA)
Martin is a Senior Project Manager, Capital Planning & Projects for the Interior Health Authority (IHA). He is a college graduate in Engineering, and has his Project Management Professional (PMP) designation. As an owner’s rep, Martin has been involved in the planning, design, tendering, construction, and completion of Health Care projects for 20 years. These projects range from $500k to $100M, and involve new and renovated construction at a variety of locations within IHA.
Matt Kormendy Inland Glass & Aluminum Ltd.
Matt is a Project Manager for Inland Glass & Aluminum Ltd. in Kamloops. Matt has various certificates and diplomas in business and construction from BCIT and Thompson Rivers University (TRU); he is currently completing his BBA through TRU. He got his start in the construction business through insurance. Working for an insurance company with a focus on the construction sector, he was approached one day by a client that thought he might be good at project management.
Roger Smith Ken Olson Ltd (Olson Construction)
Roger is the President of Olson Projects Ltd. (Olson Construction) in Golden. Roger took his apprenticeship training at College of the Rockies in Cranbrook, where he received his Red Seal Certificate in Carpentry. He is now pursuing his Gold Seal Certification in Project Management, and currently has his GSI credential. Roger got his start working as a labourer with the founder of the company he now owns; he progressed up through the company, eventually taking over as Operations Manager before buying out Ken Olson.
Phil Long, Past Chair Maple Reinders, Inc.
Phil is a Project Manager for Maple Reinders Inc. in Kelowna. He holds a diploma in Civil Engineering Technology, is a Certified Technologist in BC and Ontario, Professional Quantity Surveyor, and is Gold Seal Certified in both Estimating and Project Management. Phil began his career in construction after one year of drafting directly out of college, then started estimating, which led to Project Management and Company Management.
Shane Mosley Sawchuk Developments Co. Ltd.
Shane is the Manager, Human Resources & Safety for Sawchuk Developments Ltd. in Kelowna. Shane has a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) and an Advanced Graduate Diploma in Management (AGDM), both from Athabasca University. With a background in mining, Shane got his start in the construction business as a carpenter, and was recruited for his current position almost eight years ago.

Tim is the President of TKI Construction. He got his start in construction at the age of 5, working on residential job sites with his father – literally growing up in construction!
Vicki Topping MQN Architects
Vicki is an Architect and Partner at MQN Architects in Vernon. She received her B.SC. in Math from Okanagan University College (OUC/UBC) and her Masters of Architecture from UBC. Vicki got her start in construction immediately after completing her Master’s degree in 2002.
Cameron Betts Betts Electric Ltd.
Cameron is the Operations Manager at Betts Electric Ltd. in Penticton. He is a Red Seal Journeyman Electrician, has a bachelor’s degree from UVIC with a Major in Economics and minor in Business, a BCCSA COR Auditor, and has taken various project and business management courses. Cameron got his start in construction with a summer job in high school as a trade apprentice, spent some time estimating before taking his current position after graduation from University.
Chris Owen Interior Plumbing & Heating Ltd.
Chris is the Co-owner of Interior Plumbing and Heating Ltd. He is a Mechanical Engineer, graduated from the University of Victoria in 1993, is licensed in BC and the US, has his P.Eng. and P.E. designations, and is a Gold Seal Project Manager. Chris got his start in construction through the family business.
Craig Chequis Chapman Mechanical Ltd.
Craig is a Project Manager, Mechanical Coordinator, and Estimator for Chapman Mechanical in Vernon. He is a Journeyman Plumber/Gas Fitter, has Autobid Training, and has taken various Project Management courses. Craig got his start in construction right out of high school, working in a building supplies store. Having always had an interest in mechanical systems, he was fortunate enough to work under the direction of some of Canada's top commercial/ Industrial Plumbers and pipe fitters (The Old Boys Club) when he started with Chapman Mechanical.
Jeff Hanley Hancon Constructors Ltd
Jeff is the President of HanCon Constructors Ltd. in Armstrong. He got his start in construction right out of high school, when he went to work for PCL in Calgary as a labourer on a high-rise project. From there he moved on to residential framing, then to commercial TI work. Jeff started his own business in Vancouver doing commercial renos and TI work, then added high-end residential. After 10 years, he moved back to the Okanagan where he worked for himself as a framing contractor, then as a superintendent for Stonecroft and PCL. Three years ago he started HanCon, where they mainly concentrate on commercial construction and renovation.
Jenny Hutchison Wilson M Beck Insurance Services Inc.
Jenny is a Commercial Account Executive for Wilson M Beck Insurance Services in Kelowna. She has her CAIB (Canadian Accredited Insurance Broker) and CIP (Chartered Insurance Professional) designations, and is currently enrolled in the Canadian Risk Management (CRM) program at U of T. She says it was inevitable that she started in construction, as she assisted with the family business from a young adult. This was instrumental in her personal and professional development and the person she is today.
John Powers Flynn Canada Ltd.
John is the Operations Manager for Flynn Canada Ltd. in Kelowna. He attended many courses in the building science program at BCIT, has his TQ, RRO, and is a Gold Seal Intern. John got into roofing right out of school, and has been active in the construction business since.
Justin Tanquay DJM Contracting Ltd.
Justin is the President of DJM Contracting Ltd. in Rossland. He has his Computer Programming from Algonquin College, the MAST Program from College of the Rockies, as well as numerous construction industry training courses. Justin got his start in construction working for family as a young adult.

Tom is the Branch Manager of Harris Rebar in Kelowna. He got his start in construction following in his father’s footsteps; after completing high school, Tom started with Harris Rebar. During the past 18+ years of service, he has taken additional construction specific courses to better educate himself.
